Graphic Designer (Global Call)

LAW is currently looking for Graphic Designers to work on a consultancy framework agreement to support ad hoc assignments for a wide range of services, including the design of annual reports, policy papers, and advocacy briefs, amongst others.

LAW has a particular focus on gender equality and sexual and gender-based violence, the rule of law and accountability and transformative justice – working to bring justice to those who need it most. LAW’s portfolio includes multiple ground-breaking cases, which utilise creative legal strategies on behalf of victims and survivors from some of the most challenging contexts, representing more than 1000 clients. LAW is currently looking for Graphic Designers to work on a consultancy framework agreement to support ad hoc assignments for a wide range of services, including the design of annual reports, policy papers, and advocacy briefs, amongst others.

The Graphic Designers will work closely with our dynamic communications team and in particular field staff to showcase LAW’s work to a wide range of stakeholders.


Consultancy description

Reports to:   Communications Manager                 

Duration:   Specific assignments will vary and be commissioned under a 12-month Framework Agreement. Flexible, (exact schedules and dates to be discussed and agreed).

Location: Remote                                                      

Key deliverables

The scope of work for the Graphic Designer includes developing the overall design of a specific publication: layouts, formatting, styling, illustrated icons/symbols, infographics, pictures and timeline designs. The Consultant will perform activities as outlined below with accuracy and attention to detail:

  1. Proposing example layouts of the cover and some interior pages based on which a design route will be decided in consultation with LAW representative.
  2. Developing the overall design, layouts, formatting, styling, illustrated icons/symbols and timeline infographics, if needed.
  3. Incorporating photography, as needed.
  4. Developing illustrations/line sketch/artwork, if needed.
  5. Designing and delivering both print and online version of the publication.
  6. Incorporating any necessary text changes to the file.
  7. Incorporating any changes/amendments to the design/layout based on at least two rounds of review by LAW representative.

Experience, skills and qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience and competency in graphic designing, report production, illustration and relevant software skills;
  • Track record and experience in producing reports related to humanitarian crisis, international human rights or access to justice issues;
  • Technical skill set (Human resources and equipment) to ensure smooth, on time and high-quality production;
  • Clear articulation of capacity and skill, and innovative approaches to carry out the assignment;
  • Ability to understand complex issues as well as demonstrated capacity to translate complex subject matters into engaging and audience friendly communication materials;
  • Experience working with Government, UN agency and other non-government organisations;
