On 21 and 22 March, Legal Agenda and Legal Action Lebanon held a regional seminar on women and justice in the Arab region.

This discussed key issues related to women’s rights in the region. The four main topics, Ijtihad in religion; equality; protection; and rejection of social marginalisation, we discussed by deputies, lawyers, judges and professionals from Lebanon and around the Arab region. Participants sought to promote effective means of achieving gender equality, including through strategic litigation. LA’s Executive Director, Antonia Mulvey, shared today her experience in investigating and addressing sexual gender-based violence in Somalia, occupied Palestine, South Sudan and Myanmar, as well as in Lebanon.
