Panel Discussion: Gender-Based Violence at the Intersection of War and Mass Atrocities

On Thursday, 2 November 2023, Nick Leddy, LAW’s Head of Litigation, had the opportunity to be part of a great panel on Gender-Based Violence at the Intersection of War and Mass Atrocities at the Canadian Council of International Law (CCIL) in Ottawa.

Nick talked about how universal jurisdiction is a pathway to justice for survivors at the crossroads of domestic and international law; why investigations of mass atrocity merit an intersectional lens; and how gender persecution can be a tool for accountability for LGBTIQ+ survivors.
